One of the things that sets the Spire Nottingham Resident Doctor role apart is our commitment to ongoing professional development. We are currently building a dedicated CPD programme through Critical Insight Academy, and we want your input to shape it.
What We Are Developing
The programme is designed to offer structured learning that complements the clinical experience you gain on shift. We are developing content across several key areas:
Clinical skills and knowledge — case-based learning, critical care updates, and evidence reviews tailored to the Resident Doctor scope of practice. Professional development — portfolio building, reflective practice, and support for specialty applications or fellowship preparation. Simulation and practical sessions — hands-on training in our on-site simulation facilities, covering airway management, central access, and emergency scenarios. Governance and quality improvement — opportunities to participate in audit, QI projects, and morbidity and mortality review.
We Want Your Feedback
This programme is being built for Resident Doctors, so it should reflect what matters to you. Whether you are already part of the team or considering joining, we would genuinely welcome your thoughts on what would make this CPD offer most valuable.
Some questions we are thinking about:
What topics or skills would you most like CPD to cover? How do you prefer to learn — online modules, face-to-face sessions, simulation, or a mix? Would a mentoring or buddy system be helpful? Are there specific competencies or certifications you would like the programme to support?
If you have ideas, suggestions, or just want to be involved in shaping the programme, please get in touch via our Join the Team page or speak to Dan Harvey directly.
What Comes Next
We will be sharing more detail as the programme takes shape, including a pilot timetable and registration for the first sessions. Watch this space — and thank you in advance for helping us build something genuinely useful.
